Have you ever wondered what you and bananas might have in common? You both have DNA! This is how the DNA extraction workshop began, organized by the Molecular Regulation of Heart Failure laboratory, led by Enrique Lara at the Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Cardiovasculares (CNIC), as part of the 16th European Researchers’ Night.
Across three sessions, participants aged 8 to 12 learned how to extract DNA from a banana. Using common household ingredients, they set up a small lab and got to experience what it’s like to be researchers.
